Aid for Widow - Many widows rely on the BWT

The story of the daily deprivations of these widows is never told. Deprivations that cause mortality rates for widows to be a shocking 85 per cent higher amongst widows than among married women.

Traditionally Hinduism frowns on widows remarrying and many have their social and economic power eroded too - although in recent years many widows have benefited from moves of India Aid to enhance their status.

Hindu widows are not supposed to remarry. With little social or economic status, many become destitute. Widows have been a marginalised and deprived group for generations.

"There are more than 40 million widows in India alone."

Bhaarat Welfare Trust has stretched its arms wide open to such helpless and needy Indian women to come up and stand upright on their own feet.

India Aid aims to help the suffering widows and stop so many women from losing their dignity and basic rights when they lose their husbands. India Aid seeks your help to get ahead for this kind work.

"Help these widows."
